Review 'The Archer at Dawn' by Swati Teerdhala
Where The Tiger at Midnight was a game of cat and mouse, The Archer at Dawn is a heist. A scheming plot of subterfuge and betrayal. Teerdhala did not come to play. She came to win. And boy did she win. This sequel was formidable from the very first sentence to the very last. My expectations were high. After finishing The Tiger at Midnight, my mind opened to all the possibilities that The Archer at Dawn could live up to. It's safe to say that it exceeded all my expectations. You're thrown straight into the story from the very first chapter, making it feel as if you're part of the Blades, deep in a mission. It felt exhilarating. It doesn't take you long to realize that the stakes have raised, and they are high. Chapter after chapter, it feels as if you're unraveling one silk roll after another, discovering more sub-schemes beneath the grand scheme. You don't know who to trust and who to believe, which only makes you want to read faster. This book is filled with court schemes, political intrigue, and secrets lurking behind every corner that keep you on the edge of your seat. There isn't a dull moment, never time to catch your breath. Even now, having just finished reading The Archer, I'm still out of breath as if I've been running a marathon while reading this book. The further you read, the more you can feel it unravel towards disaster. And boy does it end in disaster. I can't believe I now have to wait so long for the sequel! The games are over. It's for real now. With their countries on the line, there is nothing our team of Blades won't do to save them. You better buckle up for a rollercoaster of a read in this thrilling sequel. And keep your wits about you, for you'll easily lose your head in all these court schemes. The Archer at Dawn comes out May 26, 2020. Plenty of time to start The Tiger at Midnight and catch up! I cannot recommend this series enough! If you're a fan of Roshani Chokshi, Sabaa Tahir, and Hafsah Faizal, then you will love this epic series!
